Clarinet

Igor Ivanov is born in Veles, Republic of Macedonia, 8th of October, 1984.

He has started his music education when he was 8 years old, starting to play block flute, and after a year he began learning to play clarinet, the instrument that becomes his professional orientation.  He entered the primary music school in his hometown, in the class of the professor Zlatko Andreev.

At age og 15, Igor entered the secondary music school in Shtip, Macedonia, in the class of the professor Rade Stojcev and in 2003 he started his education at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz – Austria (Universität für Musik und Darstelende Kunst Graz) in the class of the eminent professor Stefan Schilling.

During his studies, Igor works with his chamber ensemble (“Stravinsky Octet”), and in October 2005, he gets a chance for recording audio release – a CD.

He finishes his bachelor studies in January 2009 and after that he continues his education on master studies, again in the class of the professor Stefan Schilling.  In the course of the master studies he participates in the students exchange program Erasmus and he stays one semester in Zurich where he attends classes at the School of Arts (Zürcher Hochschule der Künste), in the class of prof. Matthias Müller.  After finishing the Erasmus exchange, Igor is back in Graz, where he continued his postgraduate studies, ending them in January 2012.

During his musical education, Igor acquires numerous orchestral experiences. He takes part in many chamber music projects, has solo performances, participates in seminars and competitions, including master courses with prominent clarinet players like Carl Leister Vencel Fuchs, Stanley Drucker, Jonathan Koehler, Antonio Sajote, Robert Spring, Martin Schpanberg.

He is also getting orchestra experience, being a member of the orchestras:

  • Symphonisches Orchester der Kunst Universität Graz,
  • Bläßerphilharmonie der Stadt Graz,
  • Europien Master Orchester Wien,
  • Wiener Walzer Philharmonie,
  • Wiener Klang Sinfonieta,

and having concerts in several countries including Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, China, Croatia and others.

In addition to the standard, more classical clarinet repertoire, Igor Ivanov pays great attention to so-called “new music” which covers the period in music after 1950, playing and cooperating with the Chamber Ensemble for new music Klang Forum Wien from Vienna.

Now he lives in Macedonia and cooperates with Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra and also he plays in National Macedonian Radio Orchestra.
